Aga Zaryan’s work embodies the finest traditions in the history of jazz, carrying forward the legacy of legendary female jazz vocalists.
She has earned international acclaim for her distinctive style, characterised by effortless phrasing and the warm, velvety tone of her voice.
She was the first Polish artist to release albums on the legendary New York label Blue Note Records, joining a roster that has included such names as Norah Jones, Nina Simone, Miles Davis and Bobby McFerrin.
Aga Zaryan has received some of the most prestigious accolades in the music world and is recognised as one of Poland’s finest jazz vocalists. She has won the Jazz Top poll organised by Jazz Forum magazine in the Jazz Vocalist of the Year category more than a dozen times.
In 2022, she released her eleventh album, Sara, which earned her the title of Poland’s best jazz vocalist of the year in the Jazz Top 2022 critics’ poll. Sara was also nominated for a Fryderyk Award in 2023.
The record-breaking sales of her albums prove that artistic ambition and a sophisticated style can appeal to a wide audience. She has won the hearts of audiences from Tokyo to New York, performing around the world.
In the Jazz Top 2024 poll organised by Jazz Forum, Aga Zaryan was once again voted Jazz Vocalist of the Year by jazz critics, adding another distinction to her career.
In the summer of 2025, she recorded her twelfth album in Los Angeles with three outstanding jazz musicians: Darek Oleszkiewicz, Larry Koonse and Munyungo Jackson. The same line-up had appeared on her bestselling album Picking Up the Pieces, recorded almost twenty years earlier. Oleszkiewicz, Koonse and Jackson rank among the finest jazz musicians on the international scene.
In December 2025, Aga Zaryan received the ‘Dumni z Powstańców’ (Proud of the Insurgents) distinction as part of the BohaterON Awards, recognising her artistic commemoration of the Warsaw Uprising, inspired by her family history, and her musical projects that movingly preserve the memory of the insurgents.
This year, Aga Zaryan was once again voted Jazz Vocalist of the Year in the Jazz Top 2025 poll.
