Marcus Miller - NOSPR
Marcus Miller
Tickets avaiable also on the platform Ticketmaster Polska.
The genius of electric bass and versatile multi-instrumentalist returns to Poland for a show at NOSPR in Katowice. His powerful, jazz-funky style of playing has been delighting listeners around the world for years. Marcus Miller, because it is about him, contributed to popularization of the so-called slapping technique, consisting of hitting the strings of the bass guitar with his thumb, and obtaining a characteristic, percussive sound, a technique often used in combination with the so-called popping.
In music circles, his playing style is considered melodious, impressing with virtuosity, speed and precision. He has gained recognition both as a solo artist, a valued sideman, as well as a music producer.
His bass pulses through a wide catalog of hit music. He can be heard on over 400 albums, including: Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Luther Vandross, Al Jarreau or Bill Withers (the hit Just The Two Of Us).
In 1984, his first solo CD was made, which paved the way for him to be a world-renowned bass guitarist. In 2001, he won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Album. In addition to solo studio albums such as Laid Black released in 2018, Marcus Miller is also the creator of many film soundtracks, including the Oscar-nominated Marshall.
The concert in NOSPR is a real musical feast for all fans of jazz music, as well as enthusiasts of the bass guitar. Strongly recommended.
