Competition for the position of: Orchestra Musician Tutti - II Violin
The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) is a leader among Polish orchestras and one of the most important institutions of culture in the country. For 90 years, it has been contributing to the main currents of Polish musical culture with its concerts, publications, and educational activity.
The orchestra regularly performs with the greatest musicians in the world, and its spectacular seat is a place admired by audiences and artists alike. Since April 2018, NOSPR has been a member of the ECHO, an organisation bringing together 23 Europe’s finest concert halls.
At NOSPR, we continue the best traditions in the world of music, simultaneously creating new formats of artistic events and seeking new ways of interacting with audiences. We are co-organisers of the Katowice Culture Nature Festival, The Festival of Premieres and the Music+Science Festival, as well as the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition.
We are continuously evolving and developing, which is why we are seeking an employee to join our team in the position of:
ORCHESTRA MUSICIAN TUTTI – II VIOLIN
Audition date: Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM
Location: NOSPR, Plac Wojciecha Kilara 1, 40-202 Katowice
Candidates are requested to:
• Include in their application a CV with a description of their artistic achievements in both Polish and English – preferred length: 2 pages, preferred format: .pdf,
• Attach a link to an audio-video recording of the following pieces to your application:
- W.A. Mozart - 1st movement of the Violin Concerto to be performed at the audition
- R. Strauss - Don Juan (orchestral part for second violins) from the beginning to bar 62.
The recording should be made in its entirety, without editing, and sent via a link to YouTube.
• Indicate in the application whether they will perform with their own pianist or require an accompanist provided by NOSPR,
• Specify in the application what repertoire will be performed in both the 1st and 2nd stages,
• Send applications by email titled "II Violin – NOSPR auditions" to rekrutacja@nospr.org.pl, or by traditional mail to the NOSPR address with the note “do Działu Personalnego”
Application deadline: Sunday, December 21, 2025
Only invited candidates will be admitted to the audition. Invitations will be sent no later than January 12, 2026. Sheet music for the audition repertoire will be provided along with the invitation. If a candidate does not receive an invitation by that date, it means they have not been selected to participate.
1st stage:
(the order of performance of choice)
- J.S. Bach – a slow movement (chosen by the candidate) from Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin.
- W.A. Mozart – 1st and 2nd movement with cadenzas, from one of the following violin concertos to be chosen by the candidate: G major K.216, D major K.218, or A major K.219.
2nd stage:
1st movement (with cadenza where applicable), of one of the following violin concertos to be chosen by the candidate: L. van Beethoven, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (in E minor, Op. 64), J. Brahms, J. Sibelius, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Prokofiev (in D major or G minor), M. Karłowicz, K. Szymanowski (No. 1 or No. 2).
